It was so bad it was hilarious. The actress--first of all--is the executive producer's daughter, or some relation of his. Why is that important? I had been questioning why in Hell anyone would cast such a terrible actress in this film. She stuttered over lines, laughed in serious scenes and failed to progress past agitated indifference for most of the movie. Further, I find the portrayal of and the treatment of the young boy to be extremely racist and offensive, especially by the border patrol officer. Even though the writers or directors might have been hoping to place a 'bad cop' vibe on him, it came off completely forced and wrong. Can we please talk about the scene where the grandfather has a stroke? Does ANYONE know what having a stroke looks like? It looked like he fell over from really bad gas and took a nap in the sun, if anything. The music at the beginning of this film was cheesy to the MAX and I still can't get over the mother's nonchalant response to the doctor when they informed her that her father had gone through a terrible stroke. Lastly, I thought it was hilarious when the doctor emphasized the fact that the grandfather might never regain consciousness, yet as soon as his daughter walked in the room, his eyes flutter open and he mumbles like it's Christmas Day. What a failure.
