Description	On a desolate island in the Arctic Circle, two men work at a small meteorological station, taking readings from their radioactive surroundings. Sergei, a gruff professional in his fifties, takes his job very seriously. His new partner, bright eyed college grad Pavel, retreats to his MP3 player and video games to avoid Sergei's imposing presence. One day while Sergei is out, inexperienced Pavel receives terrible news for Sergei from HQ. Intimidated, Pavel can't bring himself to disclose the information. When the truth is finally revealed, the consequences explode against a chilling backdrop of thick fog, sharp rocks, and the merciless Arctic Sea.

Dude-ess--so glad he DID, cause otherwise I'd've NEVER been interested past the first 15 minutes! It was because of John's big reveal that I persevered, hoping it would somehow develop in intensity, which it never did. At least he enjoyed the thing and gave it 4 stars! His comment that moved me was "I just imagined being in their shoes and that kept me interested"--hell, NOTHING in this movie kept me interested! It was torture! Much more interesting w/b Kevin Spacey in The Shipping News set in Newfoundland 2001.

"etats d'ame"??? oh, give me a break, bete noir....the large "landscapes" were utterly bleak--there was no beauty in this film whatsoever. It was like being stuck in a toxic waste dump, which maybe is exactly what it was! All those barrels?? And the helicopter coming in to take radioactive containers away, in protective suits? "Psychological thriller"???? oh, please...gimme a break.
You wanna see a good foreign film on hulu?--watch Heaven with Cate Blanchett & Giovani Ribisi, done by a Polish film-maker which explores "the cinema of moral anxiety" and has the silences, the nuances--a real & believable "psychological thriller" with beautiful scenery--now there's a good movie!

At 28 minutes of absolute nothingness and not understanding in the least what kind of meteorological radioactive work they were doing and for WHAT??--I couldn't take any more; it was never ever explained to a lay person's understanding wtf the work was about. Boring, boring, boring. Nonetheless, I persevered a bit longer, and at 33 minutes into it the radiogram came. So then I fast-forwarded at intervals to see how the movie progresses, and omg, THE most boring drawn out nothingness--I'm sorry, it's not even well-done "psychological." UGH! What a waste. Any psychological message was totally lost and made no sense; it was so unrealistic. Even the stupid radiated fish. I more wanted to know what the heck they were measuring up there in Outer Slobovia?? Radiation levels in the Arctic?? It was just awful. Not in the least scenic--a total wasteland of ugliness. Which made the entire 2-hour movie like being in Hell. No way the handsome young guy would have opted to even BE there! It was like being in prison, except worse.
