Mathau and Stiller were great and the ending was as creative as could be especially for a 70's action/drama movie.

It's the perfect antidote for today's current big budget, explosion-heav y popcorn movies. "Pelham" offers brilliant location photography (you can pratically smell the subway), a realistic approach (no last minute rescues), and great low-key performances (particularly by Walter Matthau and Jerry Stiller).
Great choice, Hulu! How about some more forgotten classics from the 70s? Was this review helpful?

This gem of a film is indeed a classic, and holds up just as well as it did back in the early 70's. You won't see a better NYC film; captures the gritty attitude of life in NY, great actors/acting.

Saturday afternoon beer & pretzels.
Nice character peices from some New York bit-actors. Pre-politically correct dialog with cursing kept to a minimum, this little improbable hijack story has enough pacing to keep the wordiness from dragging the action down. Great fun, with a cast of the best of the era's New York based players.
