I found this show very enjoyable. I rewatched the opening scene half-way through the season and it is amazing how much stuff it forshadows. And the daughter's haircut is ugly, I thought she was a boy at first.

Give it a chance...
Actually I was very reluctant to go ahead and to watch this show that I found on Hulu. But I decided to not follow what the majority of the viewers of this show on Hulu have said about it, and well, it's actually not that bad in my humble opinion. And I love to watch television, maybe a little too much sometimes, and I am always looking for something new and interesting to watch. I also love shows that involve molecular science, forensic science, etc. So, if you don't mind a bit of a slow start to something, and would like to view something more differnt then the usual shows they are keeping on t.v. now, I would recommend this one for a try.

Try another forensic show
All the characters in this show do is theorize and draw pictures. If you want something with real science that can actually keep you interested, try "Medical Investigation". It deals with epidemics and disease as well but moves much more quickly. It was cancelled but can still be watched online in some places.
