They really didn't though. Sure they might have done more to come up with the character, but the direction was always decided by the booking committee of whatever territory the wrestler was working in, unless they were the booker... What they did have more freedom with was the exact wording of promo's, instead of getting a script, they got a couple of bullet points and went from there.And really, if you are just noticing this now? Then yeah, I don't know. If wrestling in the 90's didn't turn you off with its vulgarity, I don't see why all of a sudden the current antics are bugging you. Shawn and Hunter truly were degenerates with no respect for authority, how is that not also a message in the same spirit as some of your complaints?Also, mentioning the fact that Mae Young was powerbombed, which happened in 2000, amidst a bunch of other modern story lines, miscarriage aside, though that was still much more recent, kind of weakens your argument.
