I'm no kid and grew up in France where I've watched countless similar flicks. No, it's not that great.
And if we're into assumptions about other reviewers, then I'll surmise that those who liked it are easily seduced by foreign films regardless of actual value. My problem with it is not that it's not a typical Hollywood product, but its lack of content. Like many films directed by actors, there's a bit of self-indulgence there too. Not an awful flick - just an untterly minor and forgettable one.
Hypolite Girardot happens to be the son of the great Annie Girardot, and is kinda riding her coattails, it looks like.

Wonderfully acted, romantic without being mushy. Lesson from this movie: Infatuation fades when our idealism of what love should be cracks. Real love only appears when it's tested and both parties are accepted for who they really are, faults and imperfections included.

it was sad and at first it felt unfinished to me, however, as someone who had a fiance that dumped me because of being injured in a car accident, I do understand the incredible amount of pain inflicted by being rejected suddenly over a health issue. I guess some can forgive that kind of betrayal and some cannot...

i thought it was the perfect ending. the "missing" ending is symbolic of the loss for "letting go" of the love one could have treasured. very realistic of what life (or love) often is.
