Description	Filmed in the IMAX format, this film had the luck (or lack thereof) to be shot during the same fateful and fatal climb of Mount Everest chronicled in Jon Krakauer's book, Into Thin Air, in which a group of rich hobby climbers found themselves trapped by a blizzard near the summit. The IMAX film contains footage of those people, but focuses on its own group, as they make their assault on the top of the world's highest peak. Some startling footage of the mountain and the approaches--and, as in Krakauer's book, the depiction of what is involved in this kind of adventure (particularly the pain and suffering)--makes you wonder exactly where the fun is. But documentary film is about showing you something you're not likely to see otherwise, and this movie certainly fills the bill.

I can't for the life of me figure out why individuals that know little about this subject , have zero experience , and may not even have more than a passing interest in mountain climbing would watch a video such as this and leave such horrible reviews. Every 'summit' of Everest no matter by 'who', is not only a testament to the skills and courage of the individual climbers but a triumph of the human spirit. God Bless the brave men and woman who have challenged the Mountain! Rest in Peace Rob, you will never be forgotten.

I think the film was great and truly represented the effort, dedication, and fortitude these climbers exhibit. Climbing is a passion for some. For those who have it, nothing else can compare. I would recommend this to anyone who has an appetite for earnest human adventure.
Climb as you will people. You only live once.

This is the worst sound editing I have ever heard in my entire life. I had to turn it down when the exaggerated music would play and turn it back up when the people would talk. I would not recommend this to anybody else to watch as it is a waste of time.

But nope. It was about fools. It was not a disaster, it was folly and the people who died there in '96 aren't heroes, they're Darwin Award winners. Just like some see the crew of the Andrea Gail as heroes, but really they died of greed. Spin all you want, but the '96 corpse crop on Everest was a useless loss of life without meaning or benefit.

Maybe I just don't understand but I don't know why anyone would climb these tall mountains. It seems so dumb and extremely selfish. Selfish to those you leave behind, because it seems like it's only a 50% chance you'll actually come back. Especially selfish for Rob to leave a pregnant wife behind.
