I'm 24 and I grew up watching this show. I believe I was in middle school, sixth grade or so, and would rush home as fast as I could not accepting invitations to go to friends houses directly after school just so I could watch this show. I guess after watching some of it now it doesn't live up to the incredible adventure that I remember but never the less the subtle setting, that only later in life did I understand, that is racism and how society reacts to it is still relevant. Some people think that the show is racist and it is purposely, though I don't think the show was meant to influence anyone to be racist, that to me says that the creators were not racist themselves. It's like a murder thriller movie, you wouldn't say the movies creators were murderers or that the creators were trying to make murder acceptable just by showing it. Same here. A lot of characters are racist and the society portrayed seems to accept it but that's the plot, the difference that makes you think, the fall back confliction, the major anchor between right and wrong and how racism doesn't care what race/side it affects. It's for the sake of the story not because the creators were trying to subconsciously make other people racist. They address this issue through out the series and it seems to be the undertone of the entire series. I love this show not only for the episode by episode story line but also for the main storyline which is racism by few and how does society react. Heavy stuff.
