Great film, great story. If only We as The World attuned more to seeing beyond the veil into this kind of injustice and political corruption for power, greed, and manipulation of outcomes. Instead we are indeed "looking through a glass darkly" (1Corinthians 13:12) and We the People allow politics and governments to use us as slaves to do what they will, whatever that may be! What are the real reasons behind wars? Oil? Gold? Diamonds? Territory? Thinking back to how the entire continent of Africa was exploited and divvied up between Northern Hemisphere ruling countries (watch the hulu docu "War on Poverty"). How Mussolini went after Ethiopia because it was the only one left to acquire, and Britain sanctioned it more or less prior to engaging in WWII. Viet Nam back when it was French Indochina was about owning the rubber plantations. Here it's British Empire Colonialism utilizing its colonies to fight their war, and then choosing them as the culprits, indeed "scapegoats," in order to amicably settle the controversies of the dispute. Dastardly. The trial was a complete sham. But the bravery and fortitude of Morant and his "Leff"-tenant were so admirable. At the end, Morant (though a "pagan" he said and declining any eulogy from the presiding minister) aptly chose a passage of scripture, Matthew 10:36 -- "And a man's foes shall be they of his own household." What a marvelous twist of Fate that George was released in only 3 years instead of serving Life, and survived to not only tell the tale, but write the BOOK! Hooray for George!
