What is with warping every science fiction into a thinly veiled soap opera? I think I'll go find something from the 60's, back when they didn't have the same five people pumping out the same crap over and over again, so there was some variety.

“Hi I’m Lee Smith… I’m an Iraq war veteran… it was really great experience for me”
What the??? Is this guy mental? It was a “Really Great Experience!” Who would say that? Who cast a vote for anyone that thought fighting in Iraq was a “Great Experience?”
One note here: I don’t intend to watch any more of this (it’s kind of crap) but if the dark remains a total lack of photosynthesis will bring down all survivors within [about] the next 5 months so the rest of the series is a moot point.

Yes, the filming is rudimentary. No, the acting isn't award winning. Still, I like the concept. A group of people survive an airborne illness that kills everyone else: Why did they survive? What caused the epidemic? What is going to happen next?

The pilot of this series isn't amazing, but it left me asking enough questions that I'll probably watch the remainder of the series to see what the answers are. I confess that, if the episodes were a full hour, I would probably lose interest, but they are instead just short enough that I foresee myself watching just to see what's going to happen.
