Dennis Quaid stars as Alex Gardner, a psychically gifted young man recruited by Dr. Paul Novotny (Max Von Sydow) and the beautiful Dr. Jane DeVries (Kate Capshaw) in an experiment to aid patients disturbed by menacing nocturnal illusions. But corrupt high-ranking government official, Bob Blair (Christopher Plummer) has darker plans for Alex's unusual powers. Soon Alex is propelled inside the president's nightmare, a frightening wasteland of nuclear holocaust, and locked in a fantastic battle that could only happen in a dream.

Hard to believe Capshaw and Quaid are pushing 60 now, as opposed to this 80's time capsule and ode to big hair. Its not the only dream movie, but think of it as a single minded "Inception" or "Awake" and it fits the universe of dream stuff.

Quaid is dry at toast, and Kapeshaw is titillating.

Not a great movie,but o.k. very predictable.I havn't seen the tommy character in a long time. He was the bad guy in the Warriors movie. I wonder if cate had done the Temple of doom yet,and met stephen? I like these movies because you don't get all the over the top hammy star power actors like Cruise,Willis,Cage and Smith overdoing it. Somehow they contaminate every movie they make. Can't exactly say why. In the 80's there was more of a concentration on the story,mabe. Or i just despise overacting! It is fun to date these older movies by who is in them.

It never took off, It just don't ever start, even the T&A was a complete failure, Your time's better spent on something better. Good actors, wasteful plot. Skip it...

The good news is if you are sensitive to beta blockers like I am you can have lucid dreams pretty offten. I could walk where ever I wanted and turn all the way around in a room sometimes I could fly and stuff but the more unreal it got I became aware I was dreaming. My condition improved and alas no more beta blockers and no more lucid dreams :( I was on them for 15 years but my heart beat corrected it's self.
