After the Banquet is a movie that's somewhat in the middle. I can't deny that it's a bit flat, but that might be given the nature of the plot, or rather, how it was scripted. It's a moving part of life to see a young girl in search of her father, not to gain any especial thing from him, but simply to meet the man whom her late mother loved. I agree with another user that the drama and acting could have been much better. In all, it dealt honestly and endearingly, & with charming sets, the aspects of family, relationships, love & acceptance that makes one think; I can only say that the movie would have been much more captivating if the themes had been better scripted & the characters livelier.
