Not exciting. No Oscar winning performances. No action or sex, and minimal violence.

Just a beautiful movie, beautifully filmed in a beautiful location (Antelope Island, Utah).

Jelly Bean: if you were paying attention Christine is not 13; she's suppose to be about 18; and only someone very young would think that Eric was in his 30's.

An adventure for the young at heart; a good family movie too. It has nothing to do with the Civil War, per say.....just that what they seek is suppose to be from that era. May not have great acting , with some of the characters, but the young kids do OK. I like how it reflects the past that intertwines with the present. As for some of the reviews, personally I stopped reading them before watching any movie...too many people give it away or may hate it.
It's all a personal choice....it's all relative.
PS Do not read comment by Suenell Burlingame...she's a spoiler...see what I mean!
That in particular is a twist I didn't see coming.....it was good.

A nice film with some poor acting on the part of the aunt & boyfriend but the kids & people of the past were okay. The review should have noted that "ghosts" were part of this film. I liked the story line but didn't care for the ghostly guidance at all.

I agree with another review. I don't know why this got bad reviews. This is clearly a classic. What an adventure from two different time frames. Very well done. Watch for yourself.
