it's sad world you live in. Fahrenheit 351 must have been about people breaking the law to you. animal farm? animals can't talk, right? allegory is lost, nay...wasted...on so many. 'splaining is lost on you, lucy....

every shot, set, costume, every aspect of this movie is thought out, balanced, purposeful...this movie is crafted much the same way a fine french dinner is prepared. as chef, one would be surprised at the parallels to an actual restaurant.... i first saw this movie in the 80's, while going to college. it is timeless.

It IS very much like seeing a theatrical play! that's one of the wonderfully unique aspects of this film. It's regrettable that it's not being shown in Hi-Def, because there are all sorts of little interesting things going on in the background and in the periphery of the main action. While this movie is definitely not for children's, uhh..."consumption"...I do find it humorously ironic that the titular "Thief" of this movie wound up replacing the late Richard Harris as Dumbledore in the much-beloved "Harry Potter" films. Just shows how superb Michael Gambon is, and THIS is the film where I was first introduced to him.

the opening with a man being stripped and covered in fecal matter pretty much is an indicator of the further stupidity and bizarreness to come.
must have been doped out when they wrote this piece.

....except it's VERY VIOLENT, with sex and nudity...DEFINITELY NOT for kids.
Interesting fashion/costume design, set design/art design, lighting, and music.
It is a LONG movie, and it even starts violently...most of the scenes take place in a restaurant owned by a Very Violent, boorish, loud, primitive, insecure man, who is usually accompanied by his wife (who hates him, can't leave, and takes lovers) and his henchmen/goons. The wife and her cultured lover are gourmands and so gastronomy and the restaurant's Chef also play lead roles.

Wow! Great movie. I watched this once when it came out, but DID NOT get it. I guess at 15-16 yrs. old it was over my head. I'm so glad I was able to see it again. Very bizarre and dark. Plus you get to see Helen Miram naked. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for people who don't like average "Hollywood movies".
