I watched this show when I was a kid (now I'm 30) and watching the series all over again now, I am SO impressed with how progressive it is with tackling both serious and very teen-centric issues: sex, teen pregnancy, abortion, social awkwardness, pranks, drugs, alcohol, sexual identity, rumors and AIDs. The kids on this show are REAL, more relateable than the usual squeaky clean and airbrushed teen models that are on teenage soap operas today. I also like how they rotated the members of the cast so that each episode progresses through a different character's perspective and we get to learn the backstory of each and every one of them...nobody hogs the spotlight. Oh, and unlike most teen soaps, there's not a lot of incestuous dating or any on-again/off-again type of couples on the show. Bravo!
