I loved how they did Spike's pregnancy in the show. It definitly show how much times have changed! A few of the girls suggested that Spike go to a "home" or school for pregnant girls, When I was in 9th grade in 1996, there was a girl my grade who gave birth during the school year. NOW at any given time there are usually 8 girls waddeling around high school knocked up, its crazy. Plus stupid MTV is sensationalizing the idea.
I appreciate how Shane is helping, reluctantly, but he's there even when Spike is yelling at him. I think she's mad at the situation and the whole concept/injustice of it effecting the female and not the male. And he's finally man-ing up in the last bit and finally telling his parents, we'll see how they handle next episode! I love how they brought Spike into The Next Generation episodes as well as the follow up with Shane, one of my favorite episodes, I'm still looking forward to the rest of these on Hulu though.
Degrassi hits the real topics... drugs, pregnancy, rape, child abuse, alcohol problems, low self-esteem, feeling inadequate, wanting to be popular, parents divorced and so much more!
Degrassi Jr.High, Degrassi High, Degrassi:The Next Generation, and now they simply call the newest shows Degrassi. They don't sugarcoat the real problems that are out there. I'm 30 and all the shows are my guilty pleasures! I even follow a few cast members on Twitter like Stefen Brogen, Snake, and a few of the Next Generation cast members.
