this is a documentary about an interesting woman who decides to do something more. she becomes a midwife/nurse/medical care person, despite her battles with the family.
but this is not a rebelion story. it seems that she wanted to do something and achieved it. she began questioning how local politics worked and somehow decided to become a council member.
it is always amazing when someone like this takes a leap and does things that either no one expected or approved of.
i also looked at this movie as a tiny window into how people live there, how they relate to each other, argue, celebrate, take care of each other etc. it is fascinating to see into someone's home in that part of the world, much less a home of a remarkable woman, with such great presence, who is vivacious, pretty, funny and practical.
it is never easy to go against the grain, and it is such a treat to see a success in this kind of a situation...
it is a bit unclear who all the family members are, but it paints a picture of a village life much freer and innocent in how they treat each other, than in other parts of that region; despite a tyrade of an older man trying to talk Zinat out of it. that was just too funny.
She was so good, and the amazing thing was that after all that, there was no animosity or anger, just frustration and befuddlement on the old man's face, and disbelief on Zinat's.
i loved it. i would love to see more about her and see what else she does. her smile is just so beautiful.....
