I don't know, compared to Summer with Monika.. well for me there isn't much to take home here. It's a different character of course, but I think the fact that the dancer has already lost so much to her art.. It makes her less compelling as a love-lorn youngster; and increasingly less interesting when the love is gone and new alliances fill out the ending of this movie.
Personally I think it'd be more interesting to see a movie about how she lost her original spark to the specificity of ballet. But then of course we have the recent Black Swan for that, in a sense. Still, a bad Bergman movie is better than most movies on the planet so, watch it twice! =)
