I used to watch this show when it was on in the eighties. Loved it then, grateful Hulu put it on here so I can continue watching it. This is a classic series. The best overview of police drama with humor, romance, and humanistic views thrown in. The partners, the relationships, the good ole' sargent Esterhause with his, "Hey, let's be careful out there." The last white man in the neighborhood was a good lead for the "Henry Goldblum" character. I don't ever think of a scholarly Jewish guy as being a policeman. That show with his walking in and out of the house and yard with that old man acting nuts and already shot someone, well, for a guy with a bowtie, he sure has some big brass balls.
The only thing that would be better is if they would get some similar type actors to fill all these roles and do the show over again. How did some show like Adam 12 end up on the air for all that time and something like this three seasons? Adam-12 , as dry and boring as it was, originally considered an updated version of Dragnet, aired from September 21, 1968 to August 30, 1975 on NBC for 175 episodes while Hill Street Blues ran from 81 to 87 and only had 146 episodes.
