Although at moments unapologetically cartoonish, 'Faces' pulls viewers into a closeup, claustrophobic showcase of increasingly barbaric "experiments" (read: torture) affected upon a well-rendered/textured cgi limbless male head 'n torso.It's not explained why this is happening, where or who's responsible (although the conclusion has a distinctly suggestive overtone), and we as the audience are as helpless to figure it out as the subject of the short is to do any resolving. Instead, like him we can only experience this lucid nightmare.
