So it's not a fast paced modern movie. That's what I liked about it. Spend your time enjoying the details. Enjoy the characters, because that is the best part of the film. Enjoy the costumes and sets. Enjoy the historical perspective. Picture yourself actually flying one of those flimsy death machines and imagine yourself risking your life in a situation where many others are dying. I loved the dogfights, but it's the interaction between the characters that is more important to the story. That kind of intensity takes time, so enjoy the view while watching that unfold. The ending was powerful. The person who said the romantic subplot weighed the movie down, missed the point entirely. That was no subplot. The movie is about the characters, not about the action.
