"Knight Without Armour" is a flavorful epic love story and adventure set against the backdrop of the Revolution, moving from London to Siberia and stops between. Jacques Feyder ("Carnival in Flanders", "Le Grand Jeu") directs colorfully and keeps the focus on glamorous Marlene Dietrich and Robert Donat. Dietrich is as stunning and soulful as ever in what I believe was her only 30's film not made in Hollywood since her ascendancy in "The Blue Angel". Donat was as special an actor as any during the 1930's, a romantic lead who combined good looks, intelligence and poetic sensitivity, with a beautiful speaking voice. After winning an Oscar for "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" in 1939, ill health and the theater largely took him away from the screen except for rare appearances, until his untimely death at the age of 53.
