Remember the batspit crazy chick from Through the Glass Darkly? Well before she was crazy in that, she was naive and annoying in this. She stars along with Swedish Ricky Schroeder in a tale as old as the hills really, two teenagers fall in love, start frubbing, and next thing you know all blood flow to their brains has ceased. They start making teenagery decisions like stealing a boat and running away for the summer. This sounds like a good idea to them because rutting, and when Swedish teens are in rut, they lose all sense of logic (and smell I think). If you're just sure it's gonna work out great for these two wonderful kids, then maybe you should watch. Oddly though, for a first movie it's one of the better ones I've seen. The more I see of Ingmar Bergman's films, the more I respect him. Are his movies boring? Typically, but he makes up for it in style. Are the scripts great? Who can tell? Since everything is being translated, you have to cut it a little slack, but his stock players are usually good enough to make it happen. Great for a first movie, better than some of his others. Be on the lookout for the fight scene on the beach, phantom punches and european uppercuts that would make the WWE proud. All in all it's pretty much the same plot as Braddock: Missing in Action III.
