Right you are G V. It was the Red Army, by sheer size, that eventually devastated the Germans. 26 million Soviet soldiers & civilians died in WWII. In fact, it wasn't the A-bombs dropped by the US on Japan, but the declaration of war by the Soviet Union that convinced the Japanese to surrender.I suspect the war outcome would have been different had Rommel been given the full support in N. Africa he requested. Rommel could have taken Cairo & the Suez Canal securing N. Africa before US involvement, thus eliminating the invasion of Italy. Next Rommel would have taken the oil fields in the Balkans and invasion of the Soviet Union would have started before Stalin built up his forces. Having taken Moscow, the juggernaut German Army would have concentrated on taking England, or at least stayed off the Allied invasion. Now Hitler would have had time to complete & expand his V3 rocket, jet powered aircraft programs, & perhaps even the A-bomb. Would Hitler have next turned to support Japan? I doubt Hitler would have successfully defeated the US, but a subsequent stalemate might have resulted in a negotiated peace treaty giving all of Europe, the Soviet Union, the Middle-East & N. Africa to German domination.

The USSR would have been annihilated if they attacked in 1941. Look what happened when they attacked in 1942, the Germans crushed them. Soviet tactics were critically inferior, their tanks inferior until the T-34 which was not available in any numbers until Fall 1941, and their airplanes and pilots hopelessly outclassed. Keep in mind the Soviet Union had all it could handle with the Finns. The Germans in the meantime destroyed France, and sent the Brits packing.Going hundreds of miles in backward terrain proved fatal to German machines, and the worst winter in 100 years only made things worse. Neither of these would have occurred near the German border. Again, look to the Russian offensives in early 1942. They got destroyed, and that was a year later.
