Piccolan, I'm sure everyone, including Gitarman, realizes that the show is obviously a parody - that's the entire premise of the show. But the point of view is always obvious no matter what the "character" calls for. And one thing the Daily Show is usually better at is keeping the subject matter somewhat in balance (tilting towards the left, but not egregiously so). In other words, Jon Stewart comes from a more liberal perspective, but he is able and willing to laugh at both Democrats and Republicans alike. Hence, his (mildly) stinging coverage of Obama's decision to forgo public financing.
But if you watched this episode you'll see that Stephen isn't even willing to call out Obama when he obviously deserves it. Sure, he made reference to the flip-flop...but then he made the entire thing a stab at John McCain! To me that's just lazy.
Either way, like Gitarman, I can't help but feel that the Colbert Report is slowly but surely becoming just another wing of the Obama campaign. At least the Daily Show is still funny...
