Seen here is the unedited original. Most showings people are familiar with have most of the violence edited out, due to strong censorship when it premiered.
The feel is attained by use of techniques inverse to what has caught on, going so far as to attempt to make a young actor seem old, rather than an old actor seem young. Contains realistic details such as effort needed to force a door open without proper leverage.
Initially I was going to rate this 4 stars, as there are many better products. Then re-watching it, the little details captivated me. Perhaps a perfect showcase of Spike Jonze's work as a director. This short went on to inspire the relaunch of many cop programs, and the opening of Danny Boyle's classic Trainspotting. I will not so so far as to call this the best music video ever, as we really do not need any outbursts from Kanye West; yet as evidenced above, it is certainly surpassed expectations for any music video on cultural impact.
