I just went and took the racist test and I think it may be bogus. When beginning the test it essentially convinces you black people are bad. It has you put all bad things under black people first, and I bet if it reversed what it had you do, I would have been "moderately" racist against white people as well! I agree with what the test shows, but I feel like the creators made a test that would tell them what they believed! I can't believe people are just figuring this out, either they had no way to do this previously, or I need to go into this field because I have always believed these things.

I'm surprised that it took scientific experiments to reveal that we have intrinsic biases in our animal (subconcious) brains, and that we can retrain our animal brains to rid ourselves of those biases over time. But, I've always thought that humans are nothing more than a more evolved form of ape. This show scentifically proves my suspicions.

If everyone else understood this, and was brave enough to confront their subconcious prejudices and learned irrational behavior and beliefs, there would be a lot less idiots and hate in the world.

bubbie_king, I've taken the IAT and believe it or not, the brain adjusts fairly well to the newly switched categories. HOWEVER, I noticed there was a slight hesitation when two (in my mind) non-associated categories paired together. There are a couple of IATs you can do online. Try them out.

Interesting material. I know that product placement and advertising is becoming more science as well as art. I wonder how long before we'll have sensors in our headphones and earbuds to determine our unconcious preferences.

The other thing I was thinking of... I wonder how people would test with things like "To know me is to love me" or "Beuaty is on the inside"... lol
