It saddens me that it was based in a real story. It was well done and well acted, irregardless of who played the parts. The ending, is not what everyone may expect, but then this is not a Hollywood ending. I don't think I'm giving anything away, as everyone else here seems to not understand what a "SPOILER" means....if you have not read anything before me....don't....Watch the movie and enjoy it.... It will make you happy, make you weep but most of all, for me, angry that such cultures and beliefs will go on and on.....I can't stand it nor ever understand them....it will never change, beliefs centuries old will always exist, it won't change in my lifetime!!! A good movie, still.

Catholic, Muslim, Jew, Indian, other. What does it all matter? Each of these espouses tolerance. love, peace, and yet in the name of each religion, the greatest wars, atrocities, intolerance and indifference have been committed. Why?

An exceptional production that starkly illustrates the emotion of the negative aspects of religion.

I agree with every other review on this movie.
Why oh Why oh WHY!!!??? Why did Gian die in this movie??? Did it have to be such a tragedy??? From tragic movie to beautiful movie to tragedy again!!!!!! Too much to bear! I can't believe I was compelled to watch this to it's utterly sad, sad, sad, sad, end!! I would have given this 5 stars but did he have to die??????????? Awful, just awful.

If you pay attention to the description it will tell you this was based on a true story. Gian died in the end because the real Gian died. The ending totally sucked but it was truth.

Learning about cultural differences is always a good way to expand the mind. This was a moving story, crossing continents and religions. We could all learn a valuable lession by paying attention to this deeply moving story.

If you hope for Hollywood/Bollywood to do better than this, your hopes far too high. With Red China and Pakistan as neighbors, Indian people are sure to suffer many more tragedies like this.

My attention was at full alert throughout the entire movie. Although, I wish it had been longer and that the ending wasn't really the ending, but rather a glimpse into what could've happened....like a bad daydream she was having, but then in reality the brother never actually reached his sister and her husband. The brother should've run up to the train just in time to see the happy couple and their son Vijay waving back while on a moving train towards living happily ever after. Then, I could go to sleep without this huge unhappy wrinkle in my forehead.
