funny how the simple mind feels a need to inject political ad hominem into a completely apolitical plotline. what you decry as "liberalism" is actually the typical hollywood device used to portray "scientific detachment".had you actually paid attention to the scripting, you might have noticed it was jackson, and NOT the alien that killed the leutenant. the original creature only responded in defense (the shocking of the soldiers approaching the pupae), and then it only incapacitated them, it didnt kill. it's a well worn sci-fi theme, dating back at least to "the day the earth stood still".the film had technical flaws, tactical flaws, even chemistry flaws (the m-16 doesnt use black powder as a propellant, but rather smokeless powder which contains NO sulphur, only nitro-cellulose and nitro glycerine) in abundance, the acting was fairly bad, the characters fairly unbelievable, the direction lacked on ALL fronts, the dialogue was weak at its best points, but there were absolutely NO examples of political ideology. superimposing ones political ideology doesnt make for a movie review, but it certainly condemns the school system that provided your "education". this is formulaic "alien meets scientists and soldiers", nothing more, nothing less.

Agreed on all points. Also, I couldn't stand the woman scientist who kept yapping about "the intelligent life that has come to visit us", even after the thing had shocked them and tried to eat the leutenant and shown hostile intent. She kept on yapping about how this sentient visitor should be shown respect. And some people still resist the fact that liberalism is a mental disorder. Jeez
The; surviving scientist at the end of the movie fusses at a military officer that the alien had only come to earth to stop us from "invading Mars". This was a continuation of the liberal vomit which the woman scientist barfed up earlier. The poor alien is actually so much smarter than us and better than us, and it only tried to kill us because we are stupid and we shoot before we think, etc. etc.
Garbage movie. Sorry I watched it.
