This piece is probably better as a book. It reminds me of the Nathaniel Hawthorne style or at least his topics, religious beliefs vs. man a very strange animal.
Bela Legusi, let's hope this was after his fame as Vampyr. I enjoyed the very old stage dramatic style of the film. The end is the entire film, that is why I think it was better reading, it can not be done justice on film to drag out a feeling of frustration and dread from an unknown sourse. In this case we are lead to believe that it is evil, mysterious and beyond earthly but it is the hatred of a mere mortal. We feed into the supranatural beliefs , women on board a ship bring bad luck, and blah blah blah but find out it is the jealous heart of a man. Good book perhaps buh it made a poor film adaptation.
