OMG! A B-movie from the 40's that doesn't conform to the strict worldview of the modern Feminazi. News-flash-- Most women in the 40's and 50's and most women today are NOT a bunch of little warrior princesses. Yes, this movie depicts helpless females. So what? Aren't you folks always saying we're supposed to embrace diversity? You may want to consider the possibility that the world does not, and will never, conform to your rigid dogma.
Having said that, this is not a great movie, but for other reasons. The acting of the beautiful female lead, Rosemary La Planche, is weak and often laughable. And low production values are in evidence throughout. Still, the other roles are well played and the storyline has it's points of interest. This movie dates from a period when psychiatrists were viewed with a healthy skepticism, unlike today when the movie psychiatrist has been elevated to demi-god status. However, the movie does not debunk psychiatry, the villan is a threat because he uses his psychiatric skills for dark purposes.
Worth watching if you are a fan of the period and the genre.
