Made in the mid 1960's this film makes accurate predictions about the future of fashion and media. Without giving to much away, the plot revolves around a young American model who is the subject of a news story. The news story is presented very much in line with what we now call "reality television". Polly gives interesting, authentic and funny answers as "herself" to the journalist's questions. However, he doesn't like them and he edits Polly to what he thinks viewers would find interesting. A magazine editor and her Greek Chorus of writers walk around proclaiming what is "now" and what is "dead". All the while, a wealthy prince stalks Polly as he has "fallen in love" with the image she portrays in the magazine ads she stars in. Visually, the movie is stunning with cinematography and imagery that could still be featured in top fashion magazines. Polly looks very au courant (spitting image of Coco Rocha) with and without the thick maquillage of the time. Even if you aren't a fashion maven, the story is charming and you may find yourself longing for a set of false eyelashes, a smart bob and a T-shirt with your name on it.
