You might find that some people watch this film and then say things like: "incredibly boring, goes nowhere, please watch something else." To those reviewers I say: you are probably incredibly boring and going nowhere. I admit that this film is somewhat slow-moving, but it's not the most slow-moving film on the planet. And I also admit that this film will seem strange to American audiences who are looking for explosions, guns, hustling journalists, and hot tramps. I tend to shy away from slow-moving films without car chases myself, but to say this movie is boring, "extremely boring," is idiocy. Taste of Cherry is quite the opposite. What is boring about a desperate man who drives around the outskirts of Tehran hoping to find someone to bury him? The movie is a definitely a study of character and human relations. It takes a long and hard look at desperation and sadness. The cinematography is not the most stunning in the world, but cinematography is not this film's subject. This film's subject is loneliness, severe loneliness. To say that this film goes "nowhere fast" is a completely boring statement, boring because it is wrong and boring because it is a pre-fabricated critical cliche.
