Some of the shots in this are truly jaw-dropping. The performances are really good too. People seem to dig Harry Dean Stanton allot for this; but I thought Dean Stockwell was the one that really shone. Whatever though, everybody is super good, with the tiny exception of a few bad character edits (imo).
It's odd, but there's even a point where this movie's camera work, dialogue and pacing sent my mind to exactly the topic it was headed towards without provocation.. like it read my mind. The little boy started talking about outer-space in that pick-up truck road trip.. during this, the movie had already somehow subliminally sent me to exactly that topic.. it was weird. I wish more films were this good at shaping their content though.
The music, the landscapes the color palette EVERYTHING works together to make something that is so perfectly cohesive I daresay I might never have seen a more exemplary movie in my life.. really. There's other films I like more, but this, this is really almost perfect.
