I blathered on about Antonioni enough in my Identification of a Woman review. So I'll just say that I hold the same sentiments here. I liked Blow Up allot, next in line would be Identification of a Woman, then this, then Red Desert. Except for Blow Up, I wouldn't pick any of those films above anything in all of Bergman's catalog along with 95 percent of Kurosawa's and/or Fellini's.
I think Antonioni was, like Godard, largely a product of being in the biz during the time when his brilliant contemporaries were working. They're not particularly good, but they fill in the gaps for people who want more slivers of what made the truly great, great.
I'd put Lucino Visconti above both those dudes. I hope to see some of his stuff on here sooner than later.
Alright, I'm through writing this poo poo review.. for those that strongly disagree, just understand that we "haters" are responding to popular opinion. As a result we get a little prickly when we're apparently supposed to realize how wrong we are.
For those still sensitive, I'll add that I think it's interesting to read negative reviews as well as positive ones. So long as insults aren't laid at individual reviewers, I see no problem with critiquing a movie with personal opinion.

Just because you don't understand or like a film does not make it OK for you to be impolite and disrespect the filmmaker's efforts, not to mention other Hulu customers paying to see and enjoy these classic movies. In other words, please refrain from spoiling this film for others. This should go without saying, unless you're a child.

I tried so hard to enjoy this movies it was hopeless...so is the ending and so is the whole Italian angst thing this movies embues....not worthy....and never do we find out happened to the missing girl!!
