Charlie Chaplin was a brilliant film actor and maker. It's worth watching for that alone. This film combines comedy, drama and entertainment (dancing), and message all in one. It certainly captures the feelings of pre WWII, and I think the message still holds up today. In fact, it really reveals how little the world has advanced as a global society since WWII. Anyway, the best parts for me were the scenes Charlie did after he got hit in the head with a pan....better than Gene Kelly in "Dancing in the rain".....and it's almost impossible to beat Gene.....watched this one for the first time, and glad I did.....
