I think the word gringo was around by this time. . . some people think it originated during the Mexican-American war (1848-1849) but I've read it was around earlier. The origin of the Spanish word is disputed, but it was around by this time.

I absolutely couldn't handle the absolutely mentally challenged music score. It was comical. I felt ist was a parady.

I've seen this movie several times and always enjoy it each time. The "Magnificent Seven" flics are all good to me, whether in English over the years or Asian etc. Great story. Lee Van Cleef is historic. Nuf said.

It was a good movie with no serious plot,,,,,just alots of gunfire and

I enjoy a good western and I enjoyed this. Great to see Stephanie Powers. Goodness, she must be a little long in the tooth by now but I thought she was great when I was young.
And if Hulu can ever get their sound issues conquered, it'll really be great. Music's really loud in this one but you're lucky to hear anything if the actors are speaking softly.

They rided on the name of the first. This is horrible in every direction. "hey, slow down, we might caught up with them." Very clever dialogue or just crap!

Lee Van Cleef's character does some silly things, so it makes it hard to empathize with his character.

Why let the sheriff's wife give him dumb advice? Why didn't they bring that Gatling gun with them to mow down the bad guys at the outset rather than using single shot rifles? Why didn't they target the leader from the outset? Why didn't he even care if his wife was dead or destroyed which seems like a gaping hole in the story?

But I still like the old westerns, so I guess I thought it was OK. :-)
