Ok, I was a Geology major at the University of Texas at Austin and the thing about pole shifts causing the end of the world is a whole lot of crap.
First of all, pole shifts happen though our (supposedly) long geological time period. In fact there are magnetic rocks all throughout the world that has rocks that indicates opposite magnetic pole (the magnet being set once the magma cools, so it's often inside igneous rock, giving us a clear picture of where the magnetic pole was back in the day). If thing is as bad as what this episode indicates, then it would mean a TOTAL end of all life, which hasn't been the case.
The only thing that is going to change the geological pole (as in the axis in which the Earth spins on) would be a very bad meteor impact, as in the moon crashing into the Earth.
This was taught in a Freshman Geology class... please if you're going to make a documentary at least base your stuff on real fact and not hyped up truth designed to make people panic!
