How can anyone say this is not art?
Art is what you make it, a creative outlet for expressing oneself. I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary from start to finish. If nerds make music from old game systems it is as much art as any other kind of music. This is inspiring! I want to listen to this stuff while i play games!!!

Simply put its a good documentary on the Chip tune music scene. Talks with some of the big American names. Insight on to the minds and places that the scene takes place in. I have been listening to 8 bit for 3 or 4 years now and this was the 1st time i had ever seen a lot of my favorite artist's faces and the first time i got to hear them speak.
Plus It is a great place for people who aren't really into the scene or haven't heard much of the music to start. It lists some good names to Google search for music and talks to Anamanaguchi of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World Game fame. Sadly The documentary neglects to mention a lot the more gaming heavy artists who were around before the scene was who were remixing and making chip music before these guys, but as a documentary on the actual scene this is good stuff.

"Just like techno"...Its electronic music, of course. Do you think that all electronic music sounds the same? Then electronic music probably isn't your thing. Don't forget that the people in this documentary arent the only ones who this. Theres a Lawrence, Ks group called Powerlifter that takes this 8-bit and put lyrics to it. Don't forget the most important thing about any artistic endeavor, people enjoy it. People enjoy it alot.
