A more apt title, I feel, would be "Lust and Rage"--the characters were both extremely lustful and self-serving. James was right when he declared her blood was his blood. And she, Agnes, was pompous until he brought her down. Doomed lovers these, to the end. The Isle of Man and the Island estate were marvelous scenery. Acting was superb. To think Daniel Craig moved on to become James Bond! I am curious now about the true story. That he escaped to the U.S. and was honored by Roosevelt?! Strange. But that he was drawn back to her, as if his initial plan backfired and he fell in love with her, which he hadn't intended. He wanted to bring her down to size, to destroy her. The homosexuality threads were also subtly curious. A very deep film I thought, and afterward it leaves you moved for sure. I think the review by Joseph Rose was best.
