This is not a bad idea. Over time and with enough participation this could earn millions for the environment, as for those of you who are not savvy enough to know how math works here's an example.
If every person in the United States gave me just $0.01 (a penny) and there are roughly 300 million people in the U.S.A. that means I will have 3 Million dollars. Now keep in mind that each of these businesses are donating more than a penny each, in which case there doesn't need to be 300 million businesses participating. If we have 1,000 business giving $1,000 each then we have $1,000,000 for that year.
Now currently there are less than that but some give more, some give less but either way it's still money going to the environment and since it's just 1% if have that pretty little label is 'in vogue' then more businesses will be willing to put up money just to be fashionable and that's perfectly fine. It's called responsible consumerism, companies pretty much own our government nowadays so we might as well start voting with our dollars.
