This is typical goofy, goody two shoes, christian, idealistic nonsense. The message is true, but the outcome is completely unrealistic, and there are other ways to realise truth without hard experiences. Why didn't the man go back to the offer from the other company right after he discovered he wouldn't get his job back? It hadn't been that long after he turned them down. Usually a marketing executive isn't that stupid. Why was he married to a hen pecking wife? (Notice the other hen pecking wife at the end. He should have said back, "give me one good reason I shouldn't kick you to the curb.") Also, they seemed a bit too cheerful in the midst of their crisis, and that was very unrealistic. Didn't they know that they would be foreclosed on, so why didn't they leave after having an estate sale to raise money? Why would anyone give their last bit of money to a homeless person when they will starve themselves? Oh, but in return the girl gave him a wad of cash only a stripper could get on a good night after selling how many x-mas cards? Very unrealistic and idealistic.
This was manipulative christian rubbish at best, and the bloopers weren't funny. Give generously is what the church wants because that's how they make their living. This was just another way of programming their followers into giving them more cash. It was only interesting to watch to study the techniques they use to manipulate the audience.
