I LOVE black and white movies and am grateful to hulu for making them available. I had never seen this picture before and was blown away by the genius of Lon Chaney's acting. I think silent film actors may have had more range than those in talkies because in a silent film you have to act with your face and body to a greater degree. And, in the case of Chaney, he also was athletic and agile. He was a big man who condensed himself into this pitiful character. Rock on b & w!
