Well the best way I can explain it (as I see it) would be...
Take a ball of sand in a vacuum like space. Considering it is unlikely an explosion of any type is uniform, in the initial blast, some sand would travel faster then others. Having no friction the sand should travel forever, but faster sand collides with smaller sand changing course and speed. Soon you will end up with groups of sand and as a definite in the universe, 1 individual grain of sand will be attracted to 2 grains of sand in a group, and 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 and so on and so on. Eventually your spray of sand will form into clumps. Smaller clumps are attracted to bigger clumps and so on. Theatricality making its way back to the a single unit. If you believe that gravity acts in the same way as matter, in a blank vacuum with no obstetrical, that would be what you would expect. See 6 other replies
