Hey Albert, today is December 24, 2011. It is such a shame how everything ended on May 21, isn't it?You call Nollywood trash...but yet you knowingly watch a documentary about it? You are either a hypocrite or a troll.
Hollywood and Nollywood survive because there are idiots that are willing to watch their trash and pay desgusting amount of money to peoiple that deserve none, not even recognition. The Film industry the way is today is mostly destructive to society inspired only by selfish ambicions of a low class people, like Spielberg. maybe it's just because i love africa, but this is a great documentary on something other than wild animals, picturesque landscapes, or starving children. interesting and at times amusing, the documentary is a glimpse into a piece of africa you don't often see and yet it is so typically african. and yes, it's only about nigeria and nollywood specifically, but you still get a taste of africa (in my opinion anyway). i knew that nollywood was big before watching this, but it was interesting to get a behind the scenes look at how it got started and to hear from some of the directors and actors.
I first heard about Nollywood from the Good Copy Bad Copy movie. The region is second to Bollywood in quantity of movie production, Hollywood being 3rd. I spoke with a Nigerian cab driver about it Nollywood last week actually and he had never heard of it; so its rise has been rather abrupt. True film is essentially an art form. Will be interesting to see what comes from that part of the world in the the next few decades as the production teams take on bigger projects while developing the "nollywood prototype." Interesting to watch the process.
