Mr Dean Henning
Clayton, MichiganMr. Henning:I am a 67 YO man of farming stock. We (the family) used to live in the cotton and rice producing area of the delta of the Mississippi River in the State of Mississippi. I am the last survivor. My second wife, 20 years my younger had three miscarriages. I decided to end the agony and had a vasectomy eleven years ago. My first wife and I had adopted two children (Angeline & Joseph) from another place and they are healthy. Many of my neighbors have had male fertility complaints as well as other serious medical complaints; some being life threatening. Both of my children (adoptees) live outside Ashburton, just south of Christchurch, New Zealand. We run a small business there in the Opal business. They go to Coober Pedey in Australia and to Sidney and other places there, as well as places in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. But they were born Filipino and adopted. It seems they are not stressed so hard as I. I work Stateside as a professor of English and Literature and manage a fine farm. The fact is we drag a cage over the ground and produce "free range chickens." I just thought you'd appreciate to know there are still a few of us out there who do not pollute. The eggs aren't quite as large and we have an "Easter egg," hunt at times. But as the coop travels with the birds, generally there is not a problem. Actually it is not as difficult as it sounds. People can not believe how we do it and come on Visitor's Day to observe. I will say that our slaughtered birds go for four times the US price and sometimes higher, depending on season. Yes, the eggs taste better too. Bird density on a given day is one per square meter. What we learn from this will be applied to other species. Mobile cages for swine and for cattle, with turnips planted for swine and corn sileage for cattle.
