I am the type of person who rolls their eyes at the hippies (and hipsters seemingly taking up the new fad of being hippies) who preach that everything we do nowadays is hurting mother nature, and this film has opened my eyes as to why. It all comes down to having trust in the wrong things and based on mere assumptions. It's so easy to be of the mindset that we live in the 21st century and in the US, of all places, and we should live with this expectation of trust in the government and institutions which were, at the very least, created with our welfare in mind. (Not to mention the idea that we, mere human beings, couldn't possibly be effecting this massive planet we live on.) But there is another side to the world we live in which revolves around cold, hard cash with no thought for the future or the consequences of our shortcuts and wrongdoings.
Unfortunately, this film chooses a very poor issue to start out with, as evidenced by the many 1-star reviews. I was close to turning it off myself but, by some miracle, I kept watching and was exposed to a slew of completely astonishing pieces of information relevant to each and every one of us on this planet. I would recommend this film to people of all backgrounds and all opinions and preconceptions about this issue and, most of all, to anyone living on Earth! This is a crucial issue which needs attention for so many different reasons (many, if not all of them, presented here) and I truly feel as though someday in the near future I will look back on this film as the starting point for a whole new direction in my life.
