Description	London, England the 19th Century. Sweeney Todd is a homicidal barber who teams up with Maggie Lovett, a woman who runs a bakery just down the street from his barber shop, to commit a series of brutal and gory murders of Sweeney's customers and people at random. Sweeney first slashes the throat of a friendly barbershop customer from Ireland and then hacks off the guy's finger to get at a gold ring with a valuable ruby on it for money. Tobias Ragg, an employee of Maggie's bakery, arrives to deliver the dead body though a back alley to Maggie's bakery where Tobias then hacks up the bodies to make Maggie's special "meat pies" for profit, and which has made Maggie's bakery the best place to eat on Fleet Street.

This movie is s***. I will never watch this again. I was curious about it thinking "hey this could be a good movie. I was sadly mistaken.

What kind of a horror film does a bi-polar misognyst with a passion for period pieces and S&M rough trade make? This kind. With a budget of 10 or twelve thousand and a cast of non actors and bath house queens Andy Milligan revisits theSweeney Todd story with rubber limbs and lots of stage blood and degradation. Lovers of truly bad films will love this. Others just please take a pass.

I love vintage low budget horror movies. However, I did not like this movie. Here are just some of the problems I had with the movie: the sound quality was horrible, it sometimes had that terrible sound proofing and echoing problems; the color quality was horrible, the color would constantly change throughout the movie; sometimes it was difficult to understand the cockney accents; some of the costumes and wigs looked really cheap; the acting was bad, I did not believe for one second this was a believable portrayal of characters from the 1800s. There were lots of promiscuous and adulterous characters in the movie...and I mean a LOT.

...what the storyline for this movie is based on? It seems kind of like its based on the original String of Pearls story, but with added complicated relationships. Its very interesting and confusing. A little too many relationship complications going on here though.
I have to say Tobias is quite strange in this movie, kinda creepy actually, he went after Johanna. I liked Tobias better in the 1936 version of Sweeney (Tod Slaughter as Mr. Todd). But this was definitely interesting to watch.
Its also interesting to see how the storyline of the movies have changed from the 1936 version, to this one, and then to the 2006 (I think that's the year it came out) BBC version. The roles of Sweeney and Lovett remain the same but the side stories involving the supporting characters seem to vary greatly.

...I can't figure out why hulu puts dreck like this up. This is a piece of crap. Anachronisms abound. I swear there were cars going by in the background. It's as if a rehab clinic decided to go with "drama therapy" and filmed it.
