"Christianity is most certainly backed by rationality and reason"? I certainly agree that comment above yours is a counterpoint for your argument (if we deliberately replace the general word "religion" by "Christianity"); you, on the other hand, failed to deliver a convincing defense. It is not the criticisms that make a religion look bad, it is the failure of those who adhere to admit and fix it that makes it look bad. Jesus was never a blind nor an ignorant person; he was a passionate humanist, and yet, the religions that grant themselves a say about his words have failed to love or be rational. (Sources: religious wars in history, religious policies against gays/women/non-whites)I'm sure you will cite good Christians to back up your case, but notice that if bad individuals can't represent a religion then by the same token, good ones can't represent it either. I'm talking here about Christianity as a whole and how it has failed to be humanistic. FYI, please don't bring "most intelligent people" as a defense. It's not really attractive in the following sense: "most intelligent" doesn't mean "most compassionate". The Angel of Death was sure one of the most intelligent geneticists, he was sure a despicable human. Jesus was intelligent; his intelligence was driven by his compassion. Very much like Buddha. "Christianity is most certainly backed by rationality and reason?" I'm sure if there was a donkey doo daa drawn in the book, Christians would be worshipping donkeys anyway. There are a lot of "Jesus said", "Buddha said", "Confucius said" throwing around in this world, but they are all dead to really verify all that claims and who-know-whats.
But on the other hand, it's quite convenient [sarcastic].
