I'm a woman, so I'm not especially likely to fit the profile of a sexual predator, but does anyone find SVU episodes like this a little creepy? I know there's no way the NYPD could get away with acting this way in real life (nor would they), but isn't the idea of a police force systematically ruining the life of someone whose guilt hasn't been proven a little scary? What about all the episodes of suspected pedophiles where they ruin someone's career and marriage before finding out he's a red herring? The camera never seems to go back to the collateral damage. It'd scare the s**t of me if real-life cops wanted me to fit for a crime that they destroyed everything I had and were free to just stroll away if their hunch turned out bad.I love and respect real-life cops, and I'm addicted to watching SVU, but I'm sure glad real police don't act this way.
